MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT THINGS THAT WE SHOULD OBSERVE AS WE USE MULTITESTER:
1. The multimeter should only be used by personnel qualified to recognize shock hazards and
trained in the safety precautions required to avoid possible injury.
2. Do not work alone when making measurements of circuits where a shock hazard might
exist. Notify a nearby person that you are making, or intend on making such measurements.
3. Locate all voltage sources and accessible current paths before making measurement
connections. Be sure the equipment is properly grounded and the right rating and type of
fuse(s) is installed. Set the instrument to the proper range before applying power.
4. For power supply circuits, turn off power and discharge all capacitors before connecting or
disconnecting test leads to and from the circuit being measured.

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Sir, multitester should not be reached by children and it is not a toy to play with. it is an instrument that we use as we deal with electricity. Thanks for this information, all user should know and keep in mind all this things. Godbless.

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
absolutely, children should not consider Multitester as a toy, and an addition to thisthose trained technician also need to be cautious and apply safety precautions as we deal on using Multitester
Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
why should have a safety precautions on using a multimeter ? what harm can it brought to us?

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
if we does not follow these safety precaution it will lead us to some injuries such as electric shock due to improper observant to the rules and precaution
Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
what about Multimeter probe safe use and safety features ?

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
For example Sir, we do not follow the safety precautions in using a multimeter and we experienced electric shock, will it lead us to death?

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Is there any multi-tester that automatically adjust itself to ohmmeter, voltmeter and ammeter?

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
to yanadub all things that is improperly used always lead to accident and unwanted result we need to practice these steps for the purpose of safety
Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
what do we mean by the "peg" when we are using multimeter?

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
the probes must properly coated or insulated we must not allow the presence of copper to be seen or touched by our bare hands to avoid shockrusselpotch wrote:what about Multimeter probe safe use and safety features ?
Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
safety precaution is must to have a proper guidelines as we used Multitester it is for our safety and as well with the sake of your Multitesteryanadub wrote:why should have a safety precautions on using a multimeter ? what harm can it brought to us?
Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
for digital multitester, is there any harm if I use it without safety precautions?

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Analog multitester and digital multitester are both using swith to sellect what measurement you want to use. it doesn't automatically adjust itself..

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
METER SAFETY PRECAUTIONSAs with other meters, the incorrect use of a multimeter could cause injury or damage. The followingsafety precautions are the MINIMUM for using a multimeter. Deenergize and discharge the circuit completely before connecting or disconnecting amultimeter. Never apply power to the circuit while measuring resistance with a multimeter. Connect the multimeter in series with the circuit for current measurements, and in parallel forvoltage measurements. Be certain the multimeter is switched to ac before attempting to measure ac circuits. Observe proper dc polarity when measuring dc. When you are finished with a multimeter, switch it to the OFF position, if available. If there isno OFF position, switch the multimeter to the highest ac voltage position. Always start with the highest voltage or current range. Select a final range that allows a reading near the middle of the scale. Adjust the "0 ohms" reading after changing resistance ranges and before making a resistancemeasurement. Be certain to read ac measurements on the ac scale of a multimeter. Observe the general safety precautions for electrical and electronic devices.

no because it depends to the user what he is gonna measure
Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
not necessary that you need to use digital, unnecessary incidents may lead to accident if we does not follow the proper proceduresReyesJennielym wrote:so its better for a beginner like me to use digital multimeter to avoid accidents?

back read we are not dealing with advantage and disadvantage . we are after to the proper procedure to be done

Re: MULTIMETER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Do not touch any object that could provide a current path to the common side of the circuit
under test or power line ground. Always stand on a dry insulating surface capable of
withstanding the voltage being measured, or that could be encountered.
